Tamiflu 75 mg and Generic Oseltamivir
Tamiflu is a brand-name prescription product containing oseltamivir phosphate. Approved generic oseltamivir products contain the same active moiety but may use different manufacturers, NDCs, package sizes and capsule appearances. For access or price questions, compare the exact strength, dosage form and quantity rather than the name alone.
Tamiflu vs Generic Oseltamivir
The current U.S. Tamiflu label identifies Genentech as the packager. Generic products are marketed under separate approved applications. If a prescription permits generic substitution, the pharmacy may dispense an approved generic depending on inventory, insurance and wholesaler supply.
Tamiflu 75 mg Capsules
The current U.S. Tamiflu product line includes a 75 mg capsule. DailyMed lists the branded 75 mg capsule under NDC 0004-0800-85 in a package of 10 capsules. The product is prescription-only.
This page confirms product identity and does not convert the capsule strength into a personalized treatment schedule.
Other Strengths and Forms
Current Tamiflu labeling also lists 30 mg and 45 mg capsules and an oral suspension containing 6 mg/mL after constitution. Generic oseltamivir manufacturers may offer approved versions of corresponding strengths and forms.
A capsule and an oral suspension are different dosage forms. Product comparisons should preserve the form and concentration rather than treating all oseltamivir packages as interchangeable.
Prescription and Regulatory Status
Tamiflu is a U.S. prescription medicine under an NDA, and approved generic oseltamivir products are marketed under separate ANDAs. The branded product was initially approved in the United States in 1999.
Seasonal Availability
Demand for oseltamivir can change during influenza seasons and local outbreaks. A product may be approved yet temporarily difficult to obtain in a particular strength or package. Brand and generic supply can also differ.
For a current availability question, provide the prescription, requested strength and dosage form. This page does not claim that Paulsen’s Pharmacy currently stocks Tamiflu or a particular generic manufacturer.
Price: Brand vs Generic
Brand Tamiflu and generic oseltamivir can have different cash prices and insurance treatment. A useful comparison should use the same strength, dosage form and quantity. Exact pricing is intentionally not published here because pharmacy price, coverage and manufacturer can change.
