Medication Information Research Methodology

Paulsen’s Pharmacy’s Medication Information section provides reference content designed to help readers better understand medication products, manufacturers, active ingredients, dosage forms, regulatory information and market-specific product records. The methodology behind this section focuses on using reliable sources, separating different types of medication information and presenting product details with appropriate context.

This page explains the research standards used for the Medication Information reference layer. It describes how information is gathered, verified and updated. It is not a drug article, a marketing page or a replacement for individualized medical advice from a qualified health professional.

Sources We Prioritize

Medication research prioritizes primary and authoritative sources whenever available. Depending on the subject being researched, these sources may include:

  • Regulatory sources: FDA resources, DailyMed, Orange Book, official national medicines regulators and official regulatory databases.
  • Manufacturer sources: official product information, manufacturer documents and relevant company records.
  • Historical records: relevant historical manufacturer or regulatory information when it helps explain a product’s background.

Secondary sources may be used to locate information or provide additional context. However, where authoritative primary records are available, those records take priority over secondary descriptions or copied information.

Individual reference pages may use different combinations of sources depending on the product, country, regulatory system and type of information being researched. The methodology does not require that every page use every possible source.

How We Verify Product Information

The Medication Information section separates details that are often combined incorrectly online. Research distinguishes between:

  • manufacturer;
  • active ingredient;
  • brand or product name;
  • dosage form;
  • strength;
  • regulatory record;
  • market or region.

A similar name does not automatically mean that two products are identical. Product relationships are evaluated using supporting evidence rather than assumptions based only on reseller listings, marketplace pages or copied medication databases.

This approach helps separate company identity from a specific product record and helps distinguish a medication’s ingredient information from its brand, formulation or market-specific status.

Regulatory Status and Market Differences

Medication status can differ between countries and regions. Registration, approval or authorization in one country does not establish the same status in another country.

An older regulatory record may document that a product existed historically without proving that it is currently supplied. Similarly, a current regulatory entry does not automatically prove that a product is currently available from retail pharmacies.

Active registration, cancelled registration, discontinued marketing and current supply availability are different states. Reference content therefore considers the specific country, date and type of record being discussed rather than treating all product-status information as interchangeable.

Medication Information and Pharmacy Availability

Medication Information pages are reference resources intended to explain products, manufacturers, ingredients and regulatory information. The existence of a medication, manufacturer or product reference page does not mean that Paulsen’s Pharmacy stocks the product, imports the product, sells it online, ships it, guarantees its current price or guarantees current availability.

Current prescription questions, inventory questions and pharmacy-service questions require direct confirmation from the pharmacy. Readers with those questions should use Medication Services or Contact resources for current information.

Medical and Factual Review

Medication-reference content may include review for medical and factual accuracy by Dr. Nancy Ann Curosh.

This review supports the accuracy of reference information. It does not mean that Dr. Nancy Ann Curosh authored every page, reviewed every statement on every page or that the content represents an individual medical recommendation.

Updates and Corrections

Medication Information pages may be updated when important information changes or when stronger evidence becomes available. Updates may occur when:

  • regulatory status changes;
  • manufacturer or product information changes;
  • stronger primary evidence becomes available;
  • factual errors are identified;
  • a page is substantially revised.

The reference section does not claim continuous monitoring or a fixed review schedule. Updates are made when there is a reason to revise the factual information presented on a page.

Medical Decision Boundary

The Medication Information section helps readers understand product identity, manufacturer information and regulatory context. It does not replace individualized advice from a prescriber or other qualified health professional.

For the broader reference library, visit Medication Information.

The purpose of this methodology is to make the reference layer easier to interpret. Medication information can involve multiple records, countries and product descriptions, so the page explains the standards used to avoid combining separate facts into a misleading conclusion. Clear source attribution and careful distinction between product identity, regulatory information and availability help readers understand what a reference page does and does not establish.
